LEGENDS IN CONCERT ANNOUNCES SPECIAL ONE WEEK ENGAGEMENT IN MYRTLE BEACH, DIRECT FROM LAS VEGAS, FEBRUARY 14-19, 2023

MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA (12/15/2022) – Legends in Concert is ready to kick off the 2023 season with jumpsuits, black leather, swiveling hips and leg-shaking, presenting a first-ever Elvis themed production, Back in the Building, at the Legends in Concert Theater. The all-new show highlights the music of Elvis Presley as seen through the eyes of super-fans that became renowned tribute artists. The show will feature not only several of the world’s greatest tribute artists, but a live band, magnificent costumes, and much more.  

Fans will celebrate extraordinary Elvis hits performed by Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest champions, as named by Elvis Presley Enterprises, including 2014 champion Jay Dupuis, and 2019 champion Taylor Rodriguez.  Those winners will be joined by a third Elvis, Daniel Durston, an Equity Actor-Musician who starred in the Broadway national tour of Million Dollar Quartet, and the national tour of Memphis the Musical.  Carol Maccri Gossamer will also be featured in the Elvis movie years, performing her legendary tribute to Ann-Margret.   

“We are thrilled to present this group of super-talented Elvis Presley tribute artists this winter in Myrtle Beach,” said Brian Brigner, Chief Operating Officer of Legends in Concert. “This first-ever production comes on the heels of the successful summer Elvis movie release and a two month hugely-successful run of the show in Las Vegas, at the Tropicana Las Vegas.” 

 

Legends in Concert presents Back in the Building February 14 – 19, 2023, with shows nightly at           7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.  Tickets start at $39.95 (excluding tax and fees). VIP booths and preferred seating are also available, ranging from $46.95 to $54.95 (excluding tax and fees). Donna J. Huntley (Professional Woman) is an Ohio native who has enjoyed touring with MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL® 2004 after completing world tours as a Guest Entertainer with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Her Broadway, Off-Broadway and Regional theatre credits include: LENA HORNE: THE LADYAND HER MUSIC, SHADOW BOX (Beverly), OUR LADY OF 121ST STREET (Inez), HAIRSPRAY (Motor Mouth Mable), NUNSENSE (Sister Herbert), and CHICAGO (Matron Mama Morton). She is the winner of a Presidential Award for Best Overseas USO Tour, and has performed with The Platters, Ben Vereen, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Latin Superstars El Puma and Chayanne.

Kimberly Vanbiesbrouck (Soap Star) first performed in MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL® in her hometown of Detroit, where it was awarded the honor of longest-running musical in the city’s history and Best Ensemble Cast. Currently she resides in Chicago, where some of her other credits include MOTHERHOOD THE MUSICAL, BEYOND THE RAINBOW (Judy Garland), FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, SWEET CHARITY, ALWAYS PATSY CLINE, A CHORUS LINE, and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. She is also the national Choreography Co-Supervisor for MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL®.

Roberta B. Wall (Earth Mother) first stepped on stage with MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL® in the original L.A. production, which opened in 2003. She was brought on as vocal director for MENOPAUSIA, the Spanish version of the show in 2013, and has continued on as National Assistant Music Supervisor. Set in a department store, four women meet while shopping for a black lace bra at a lingerie sale. After noticing similarities among one another, the cast jokes about their woeful hot flashes, mood swings, wrinkles, weight gain and much more. Entertainment and its new hit competition series “Clash of the Cover Bands”, which looks to crown the world’s best tribute artists.  “Legends in Concert” will leverage their numerous media and marketing platforms including in-theater promotion, social media channels and eblasts to promote “Clash of the Cover Bands” and the world-class talent featured on both the TV series and “Legends in Concert” stages, live, in cities across the country.  The partnership brings together powerhouses in the world of entertainment to celebrate music, pop culture and supremely talented performers.

 

Forging this partnership was natural for both Legends and E!, as out of the series’ 20 competitors, almost half regularly grace Legends in Concert’s stages. E! recently debuted its new music competition series where Stephen “tWitch” Boss serves as host and celebrity judges include global powerhouse Meghan Trainor, Grammy-nominated powerhouse singer-songwriter Adam Lambert and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ester Dean.  In each episode, two bands of similar musical genre (e.g., Pop Divas, ’80s icons, kings of country, platinum icons, rock legends, etc.) go head-to-head over the course of two rounds to see which band has the most entertaining cover performance, with a chance to win a cash prize of $10,000 and bragging rights. MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA, October 26, 2021 – Las Vegas’ longest running and most-awarded tribute show, is ready to celebrate the holidays as they launch their 26TH Holiday show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Legends in Concert opened its doors on the Grand Strand in 1995 and has been consistently met with excitement and enthusiastic crowds at its shows for years. The holiday lineup of performers begins on November 3, 2021.

The Legends Christmas Spectacular, at its namesake theater, will pay tribute to music royalty including Aretha Franklin, Reba McEntire, The Blues Brothers and Elvis PresleyJust as the Radio City Rockettes have become synonymous with the holiday season in New York City, the annual Holiday show at Legends in Concert has become part of the season’s celebrations in locations around the country.  A dynamic, blockbuster opening number begins the festivities with The Brian Setzer Orchestra’s rendition of “Jingle Bells.”  For the big finale, the Legends band brings music memories to life with a sensational tribute to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Eve in Sarajevo” (“Carol of the Bells”) and the entire cast will join them and perform “Oh Holy Night and Joy To The World.”   The magical sounds of the season are sure to fill the Legends in Concert Theater halls throughout the Christmas holidays.

Denita Asberry makes a triumphant return to the beach and will present the powerhouse vocals you will “Respect” of Aretha Franklin, while Corrie Sachs will make her local debut to pay homage to loveable Reba McEntire.   Your favorite Soul Men, The Blues Brothers™ return for the holidays after a fall hiatus, featuring Dan Meisner and Kenny Barret and all their comedic exploits.  Elvis is back in the building, as Patrick Dunn, the recently crowned 2021 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion from Elvis Week in Memphis, makes his first and only appearance ever on the Grand Strand.
