Performed By: Jay White

I was first a fan and really loved the music.” That’s Jay White’s immediate response to comments on his incredible likeness and masterful tribute to song master Neil Diamond in Legends in Concert. White has been a credit to the living legend since 1989 when he joined Legends and began thrilling older Diamond fans and winning new ones.

Jay’s every movement, sound and expression are tributes to the passion and power of the real Diamond, giving new luster to the life of the man and his music. From the moment he hits the stage with Diamond favorite “Cherry, Cherry” to the fabulous flag waving finale “Coming To America” Jay fires the audience with the intensity of his first class illusion.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Jay moved to Detroit with his family, where he subsidized his business education at Wayne University by selling insurance and doing local singing gigs. He always loved the Neil Diamond music and included it in his act. When Neil Diamond fans convinced him he sounded like the real thing, he began to study the look and the movements more closely.

He auditioned for Legends in 1988 and began working at John Ascuaga’s Nugget and Caesars, Tahoe. Soon, he was ready for his Las Vegas debut at the Imperial Palace. Since then, he has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, The Vicki Show, and two National Arthritis telethons plus Caesars, Harrahs, Bally’s and the Hiltons across the nation. In Vegas, Jay continues to give Neil Diamond the honor he deserves with natural nuance and extraordinary emotion at every Legends in Concert performance.

The fans certainly respond. He’s even picked up a few fans for Neil Diamond along the way. He tells us, “I’ve had people come up to me and say, ‘I was never a Neil Diamond fan before, but after watching you, ‘I’m going to buy one of his albums tomorrow.’ ” What more could this tribute artist do for a true legend?
